Dr. Larry P. Tadlock,\u00a0head of orthodontics at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in Dallas, received the James E. Brophy Award from the\u00a0American Association of Orthodontics for his\u00a0service to the profession.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Dr. Larry P. Tadlock\u00a0of Colleyville,\u00a0head of\u00a0orthodontics\u00a0at\u00a0Texas A&M\u00a0University College of Dentistry\u00a0in Dallas, received the James E. Brophy Award April 30\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0American Association of Orthodontists\u2019 annual session in Orlando, Florida.\u00a0The award is given\u00a0annually\u00a0to an orthodontist who\u00a0renders\u00a0distinguished service to orthodontics and\u00a0the AAO.\u00a0Tadlock,\u00a0a graduate of\u00a0the\u00a0then-Baylor College of Dentistry Class of 1984,\u00a0served as\u00a0general\u00a0chair\u00a0of the 2022 AAO\u00a0Annual Session.\u00a0He also served as\u00a0director\u00a0of the American Board\u00a0of Orthodontics from 2011 to 2020 and was ABO president from 2018\u00a0to 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cServing as a\u00a0director of the ABO is one of the greatest privileges of my professional\u00a0life,\u201d he said. \u201cServing as\u00a0general\u00a0chair of the 2022 AAO Annual Session\u00a0was challenging but successful because of the herculean efforts\u00a0of the AAO\u00a0staff and other AAO leaders, especially then-AAO President Ken Dilleay.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tadlock joined A&M Dentistry\u2019s faculty in 2000 at the urging of Dr. Rolf G. \u201cBuzz\u201d\u00a0Behrents, who was the orthodontics department\u2019s\u00a0chairman. Behrents was scheduled\u00a0to receive the AAO Lifetime Achievement Award in Orthodontic Research\u00a0on\u00a0May 3 at the annual session,\u00a0but he passed away April 24.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tadlock, who received\u00a0both his master\u2019s and\u00a0an\u00a0orthodontic\u00a0specialty certificate from what\u2019s\u00a0now\u00a0UTHealth Houston, was in private practice in Keller and\u00a0North Richland Hills\u00a0for more than 30 years.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0received\u00a0numerous\u00a0awards, including\u00a0ABO\u2019s Dale B. Wade Award of Excellence in Orthodontics in 2025;\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0presented to a senior clinician and board-certified\u00a0orthodontist who\u00a0demonstrates\u00a0exceptional dedication to orthodontics.\u00a0 \u201cThis national recognition\u00a0reflects\u00a0Dr. Tadlock\u2019s long-standing commitment to excellence in orthodontic education and service to the profession,\u201d said Dr. Lily T. Garc\u00eda, dean\u00a0of A&M College of Dentistry. \u201cAs one of my dental school classmates, I have had the privilege of\u00a0seeing\u00a0firsthand\u00a0his\u00a0dedication and leadership,\u00a0and\u00a0I\u00a0am proud to see him receive the prestigious James E. Brophy Award from the American Association of Orthodontists.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
